DASCOM Americas Announces New 1140RH Printer for Transportation Market

DASCOM Americas, a recognized industry leader in business transaction print solutions today announced its new 1140RH Roll Holder Serial Matrix Printer in the Americas’ market. The 1140RH has previously been available only in the EMEA geographies, where it is distributed by SITA, a leading information technology provider for the air transportation industry.

The 1140RH is a compact, yet rugged printer designed for paper roll applications. It is ideal for the transportation industry and is used in applications including airports, rail stations, and travel agencies.

Capable of handling paper rolls up to 4.4 pounds, and with a metal roll construction, the 1140RH is perfect for printing various forms documents including passenger manifests. The printer has a 9-pin print head and can print up to 400 characters per second. It is designed as a drop-in replacement for several other manufacturers’ printers who have exited the serial impact dot matrix print market.

According to Lance Clark, Director of Printer Operations & Sales for DASCOM Americas: “The 1140RH fills an important niche in the business transportation print industry. Other manufacturers have exited this market space, but DASCOM continues to invest in print technology and continues to develop new printers and printer enhancements in not only the serial impact print market space, but also in thermal, mobile, and smart card printing.” He adds: “The 1140RH draws upon the many features of our traditional 1140 printer and incorporates the unique roll holder which allows users to easily, conveniently, and cost-effectively print important transportation documents. The printer has a small footprint, but is ruggedly constructed, prints at an excellent speed, uses a long-life ribbon for less frequent changes, and of course incorporates the roll holder which is easily attached and firmly clips to the printer. The holder is easy to install and is affixed to the rear of the printer so no additional space is needed for the printer on a desk or counter. The printer can also be easily moved when necessary.”
